Recently I have been working on a new range of 28mm figures for the Winter War for Parkfield Miniatures.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.parkfieldminiatures.freeservers.com/28MM%20WINTER%20WAR%201939-40.html">http://www.parkfieldminiatures.freeservers.com/28MM%20WINTER%20WAR%201939-40.html</a><br />

The LMG and crews for both sides will be available soon, both moving and firing teams, more support weapons<br />

<br />
Using the Pegasus French and German infantry as a basis for my two armies, I have recently acquired a few vehicles for support. Firstly some Somua s-35's from lancer miniatures<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJa0QU_AzgUk8aoDTL7KuZm0hDxtqVbn1c4lqj1TUnxXJ1rG8tmny7lzmVR46zZ3jK0LURgL_2Xdy0eeNN4D3uD1SmwHhLT8bLDeQHtwFQieFkY38U999C6pv_n4XtKtPZLJc-bp_rmEY/s1600/SOMUAS.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="167" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJa0QU_AzgUk8aoDTL7KuZm0hDxtqVbn1c4lqj1TUnxXJ1rG8tmny7lzmVR46zZ3jK0LURgL_2Xdy0eeNN4D3uD1SmwHhLT8bLDeQHtwFQieFkY38U999C6pv_n4XtKtPZLJc-bp_rmEY/s320/SOMUAS.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
For the Germans, I decided on some 38 (t)'s from early War Miniatures.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

This was the first outing of My Liberators armies and using General de Brigade.<br />
<br />
The Royalist line, awaiting the onslaught from the Argentine army<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyjOCEiNKN5jKQVNNSSt_Q_83j8CgYnkejGHSqMZui1vB0LmYkVu_ZLw8VauN2TY7R4R2KSmMqBj-F697cj1yBeUK7MWxLL_IT-Zvrkc6vzKS3h8GwTY0ziPDJNKO1Vlcg3kKZc3t_HkU/s1600/IMGP3701.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyjOCEiNKN5jKQVNNSSt_Q_83j8CgYnkejGHSqMZui1vB0LmYkVu_ZLw8VauN2TY7R4R2KSmMqBj-F697cj1yBeUK7MWxLL_IT-Zvrkc6vzKS3h8GwTY0ziPDJNKO1Vlcg3kKZc3t_HkU/s1600/IMGP3701.jpg" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The Argentine player sent O'Higgins' brigade around the Royalist left to bring the mounted grenadiers into contact with the Royalist cavalry holding the left of the line<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZNclMfnKQAyS_8F7uF6PIOEdMOF3eOTmHua95zeRxohQMgcxlR0eCURZPAf7RyassyaJj3-k_EFiDUKct0NL4BiE9r9AeqUBfVJwKQN5lViEDcmxvfI9hhL8ERA4l4rlAZqlf2DlIhcI/s1600/IMGP3703.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZNclMfnKQAyS_8F7uF6PIOEdMOF3eOTmHua95zeRxohQMgcxlR0eCURZPAf7RyassyaJj3-k_EFiDUKct0NL4BiE9r9AeqUBfVJwKQN5lViEDcmxvfI9hhL8ERA4l4rlAZqlf2DlIhcI/s1600/IMGP3703.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
With the cavalry melee in the distance, the Argentine's swung round to advance into the advancing Royalist line. The ad hoc skirmishers holding the Royalist right.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikaXtgoYToSF_t_53-yvTDGwDE6qed4Orhis1fPisnkrliWKdu2f4EWtusWl_u3NRtjyVY0_EJwgkivbZ-VDq4NR0hZBsIvLdUXctR4n-9D9Pc0pipZg6DY1xA0fjggZcVSjFhWusHols/s1600/IMGP3704.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikaXtgoYToSF_t_53-yvTDGwDE6qed4Orhis1fPisnkrliWKdu2f4EWtusWl_u3NRtjyVY0_EJwgkivbZ-VDq4NR0hZBsIvLdUXctR4n-9D9Pc0pipZg6DY1xA0fjggZcVSjFhWusHols/s1600/IMGP3704.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The cavalry melee with the infantry preparing to contact the Royalists in the centre.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuUpWJu493JqStycERNd3pIcqOXrzOIUfJEXl7mjXCjuCzTxSW2N4VwoxvDLfcfnpwIO8-kXULucT0pqQ5dj6VCCWWi36p0WYflDVYYAszsXrXrV_dqDvNumyPWVsKlYny0q3H-ScvVX0/s1600/IMGP3705.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjuUpWJu493JqStycERNd3pIcqOXrzOIUfJEXl7mjXCjuCzTxSW2N4VwoxvDLfcfnpwIO8-kXULucT0pqQ5dj6VCCWWi36p0WYflDVYYAszsXrXrV_dqDvNumyPWVsKlYny0q3H-ScvVX0/s1600/IMGP3705.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
The Royalists advanced into the fight<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg71c0MySFCytk1MXG0QwPdFtZc0whCyk4EmAgbvoC-WMxhyghQ3lA0CaokcmCQQ7t7oVoRB3PF6cAHsR6Iy7kZhaV1OdImCLXtHh6VR61gAEfdBK0-Bo7acSTOR9428SNZQewncAWWy7c/s1600/IMGP3706.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg71c0MySFCytk1MXG0QwPdFtZc0whCyk4EmAgbvoC-WMxhyghQ3lA0CaokcmCQQ7t7oVoRB3PF6cAHsR6Iy7kZhaV1OdImCLXtHh6VR61gAEfdBK0-Bo7acSTOR9428SNZQewncAWWy7c/s1600/IMGP3706.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
Meanwhile the patriot reinforcements had started to appear and the third and fourth squadrons of the mounted grenadiers advanced, clearing the Royalist skirmishers away and forcing the Royalist gun crew to evade.<br />

In the final turns the Talavera regiment at the centre of the Royalist line formed square and saw off determined attacks by both Patriot infantry and cavalry before routing.<br />

All in all it was an enjoyable game with the Royalist commander taking the battle to the Patriots and proving to us that the General de Brigade rule set is suitable for the smaller actions of the Liberators.Simonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01350893938778685169noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-564665832206723792.post-15686917576608602842014-09-27T06:41:00.000-07:002014-09-27T06:45:35.660-07:00New range on the wayIt has been a long time since my last post but I haven't been idle, in fact I have actually started on a new range of figures to be released either later this year or early next year, I have not decided yet, I suppose it all depends on how things progress in the meantime.<br />
<br />
I have always been somewhat interested in the more obscure periods, the next project covers the Taiping rebellion in China, and may eventually cover up to and including the Boxer rebellion.<br />
<br />
Anyway, the figures are underway as you can see. First up are some Taiping rebels with polearms, )these will be separate items) in advancing poses<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipzS_HUo1eyb96MGNP37zoIED0RvDmOEN3dzdbEJ5dD9iM4wnelw6Qn1jCDufbF5uH92sTB4qI47BwFt6_UeiKNzY0ZeIuRCvxuIvqI4uUrPb09EnvvgSDE5K-mIJlx4RpYAKTt9-zTa8/s1600/IMGP3549.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipzS_HUo1eyb96MGNP37zoIED0RvDmOEN3dzdbEJ5dD9iM4wnelw6Qn1jCDufbF5uH92sTB4qI47BwFt6_UeiKNzY0ZeIuRCvxuIvqI4uUrPb09EnvvgSDE5K-mIJlx4RpYAKTt9-zTa8/s1600/IMGP3549.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next up, the beginnings of the Imperialist forces, a few matchlock men in fairly generic clothing, standard on the left, leader on the right.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfXasVM0t1mcyvpfDYUT-JZcdiTPj9LjD64Vsy7xQV10PVhL0mb5P6rHkmCFzpd_5VN8jPcD7DNi5O4ubtzrWklt2Ro85jITrnfcQA24ZtndgWcYx0FQiJXImfm35YBFx1K-L7Owy508I/s1600/IMGP3548.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfXasVM0t1mcyvpfDYUT-JZcdiTPj9LjD64Vsy7xQV10PVhL0mb5P6rHkmCFzpd_5VN8jPcD7DNi5O4ubtzrWklt2Ro85jITrnfcQA24ZtndgWcYx0FQiJXImfm35YBFx1K-L7Owy508I/s1600/IMGP3548.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Now for the first of the foreign led units, the Ever Victorious Army (or Foreigh Arms Corps) with European officer<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNe_iv94V4UxFi5cfWR7W6k3EDRZe1i4nKnFXQnSY9E0iaQ-_gnH3lEMV6A7M9HfbB9p-2fW0fb1ESgH43nY8l-wtadWhf5WquSBYj0uFbNeiZbvObl7WIgVqTPY2jSNyyrV3MQyIoTQU/s1600/IMGP3547.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNe_iv94V4UxFi5cfWR7W6k3EDRZe1i4nKnFXQnSY9E0iaQ-_gnH3lEMV6A7M9HfbB9p-2fW0fb1ESgH43nY8l-wtadWhf5WquSBYj0uFbNeiZbvObl7WIgVqTPY2jSNyyrV3MQyIoTQU/s1600/IMGP3547.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Taiping missile men, two with matchlocks and a Jingal crew.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkqh4jRqSwOXXj44qb6bYP4nTMA7owgiPFgHaQgDV3HMyK5sskW1WW-R-ppp_yX7uTw3dBFR3tJMOdnWu5Z7HRi649RYGsdGnaZjmqdiLoWtwCpC3TpDPDLyrGYiY7_aCWKQ5vxvdlkpY/s1600/IMGP3546.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkqh4jRqSwOXXj44qb6bYP4nTMA7owgiPFgHaQgDV3HMyK5sskW1WW-R-ppp_yX7uTw3dBFR3tJMOdnWu5Z7HRi649RYGsdGnaZjmqdiLoWtwCpC3TpDPDLyrGYiY7_aCWKQ5vxvdlkpY/s1600/IMGP3546.jpg" height="213" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Last but not least, a few leader figures for either side, including Ward.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Anyway, she proceeded to pull it from the back of the drawer and my eyes widened, it appeared to be a bayonet of some sort.<br />
<br />
Anyway, after a bit of googling it transpires that it is probably a French M1874 Gras rifle sword bayonet!<br />

<br />
The first three figures are fairly generic and wearing various items of clothing and headgear.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvvUEuzaRP0N_0eUN4VdKXeeC_Kv7Jzm2U_alnjN7H9uOzwi64pUQg7VftLCL2FSHoWFRPYf85Rhhow2EFvkjYv78BMyK5ABlKoAx3cT8qphoxF9QDAtm_iTdpp3EkwXL_nbzGwqRxf2c/s1600/Gauchos.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvvUEuzaRP0N_0eUN4VdKXeeC_Kv7Jzm2U_alnjN7H9uOzwi64pUQg7VftLCL2FSHoWFRPYf85Rhhow2EFvkjYv78BMyK5ABlKoAx3cT8qphoxF9QDAtm_iTdpp3EkwXL_nbzGwqRxf2c/s400/Gauchos.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
The next three are meant to represent the infernales regiment and Guemes guard, wearing the stocking cap. However all these figures are completely interchangeable with each other to provide some variety.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBxyqrl0AkDN6OD2drVEtoq-Wa9efKaQH-vuRBIVQ10N21JjlL-XR5tfuJmijHr2gAXX6XVw1czY2QLgsFvWEWbokYqLqCQBHHcwzrmQnVaR2xxWHp8VP3vnGxBOcrMMrptydYQyfpimM/s1600/Infernales.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBxyqrl0AkDN6OD2drVEtoq-Wa9efKaQH-vuRBIVQ10N21JjlL-XR5tfuJmijHr2gAXX6XVw1czY2QLgsFvWEWbokYqLqCQBHHcwzrmQnVaR2xxWHp8VP3vnGxBOcrMMrptydYQyfpimM/s400/Infernales.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
These figures provide the basis for the Gaucho army with future variants wearing ponchos and alternative headgear.<br />
<br />
To the left of each picture is Guemes, the commander of the gaucho army, modelled wearing the white uniform and bareheaded, mainly because in the pictures I could find of him wearing this uniform he is bare headed.Simonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01350893938778685169noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-564665832206723792.post-60144728070778918682013-08-08T12:05:00.000-07:002013-08-09T03:47:17.890-07:00Jane Austen's brotherIt may seem odd, but whilst travelling down to the new Forest we decided, or at least my wife did, to go to Jane Austen's house in Chawton. Whilst there I came across an interesting artefact.<br />
<br />
The sword below was presented to Charles Austen, commanding HMS Aurora, by Simon Bolivar for providing naval as well as political support to him during his liberation of Venezuela.<br />
<br />
More information and pictures can be found here:-<br />

<span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">In March 1819, Bolivar combined
most of his foreign volunteers into a brigade of 250 men named the British
Legions, with James Rookeas commander. The British Legions consisted of
the 1st British Legion led by Colonel James Towers English, the 2nd
British Legion led by Colonel John Blossett, and the Irish Legion, led by
Colonel William Aylmer (1772–1820).<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">The
British Legions were an important part of Bolívar's army. They played a pivotal
role in the Vargas Swamp Battle on July 25, 1819, and Bolivar
credited them with the victory at the subsequent Battle of Boyacá on
August 7, 1819, saying "those soldier-liberators are the men who deserve
these laurels." At the victory at Carabobo Bolívar describing
them as "the saviours of my country".<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Legions#cite_note-3"><span style="color: #0b0080;">[3]</span></a> Nonetheless, they have been

<span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">The British
Legion or British Legions were foreign volunteer units
that fought under Simón Bolívar against Spain for the independence
of Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, and Peru. The Venezuelans
called them the Albion Legion. They were composed of over seven thousand
volunteers, mainly Napoleonic War veterans from Great Britain and
Ireland, as well as some German veterans and some locals recruited after
arriving in South America. Volunteers in the British Legion were motivated by a
combination of both genuine political and mercenary motives. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Their
greatest achievements were at Boyacá (1819), Carabobo (1821),
and Pichincha (1822), which secured independence for Colombia,
Venezuela and Ecuador, and during the last great campaign, culminating in
the Battle of Ayacucho in Peru (1824), which destroyed Spanish rule
in South America forever. The British Legions fought until the end of the wars,
their number much depleted.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

Historians propose <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_career_of_Jos%C3%A9_de_San_Mart%C3%ADn_in_Spain#Return_to_South_America" title="Military career of José de San Martín in Spain"><span style="color: windowtext; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;">several explanations</span></a> for
this action: the common ones are that he missed his native country, that he was
a British agent and the congruence of the goals of both wars. The first
explanation suggests that when the wars of independence began San Martín
thought that his duty was to return to his country and serve in the military
conflict. The second explanation suggests that Britain, which would benefit from
the independence of the South American countries, sent San Martín to achieve
it. The third suggests that both wars were caused by the conflicts between
Enlightenment ideas and absolutism, so San Martín still waged the same war; the
wars in the Americas only developed separatist goals after the Spanish <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absolutist_Restoration" title="Absolutist Restoration"><span style="color: windowtext; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;">Absolutist Restoration</span></a>.<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_de_San_Mart%C3%ADn#cite_note-FOOTNOTEGalasso200033.E2.80.9350-9"><span style="color: windowtext; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;">[9]</span></a><o:p></o:p></span></div>

<br />
First up we have the rank and file in various advancing poses, wearing shakos with oilskin covers one is wearing a forage cap to add variety<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMuqtVdX_-MhOthM4SsXFhDJsdk1kxf237Td9XDhqoumv6RNLpR07Acgwj27dfFKWyzDLYHP-FMmUA7FeFTInpikLjWT1oT8I-B9vvYZK-OqxAKaK1M4WgSKWzYE5t1kJWvKvEOMKqekM/s1600/Untitled-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMuqtVdX_-MhOthM4SsXFhDJsdk1kxf237Td9XDhqoumv6RNLpR07Acgwj27dfFKWyzDLYHP-FMmUA7FeFTInpikLjWT1oT8I-B9vvYZK-OqxAKaK1M4WgSKWzYE5t1kJWvKvEOMKqekM/s320/Untitled-1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Next the command, as usual so as to fit in the packs, there is an ensign, officer, sergeant and drummer.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIt9XllLOHm8cN3TwDD8ePxAVIoWT5NjKlT3-LJyCGu2xkBHpyIV_7H3abCklpYvojdpD7xvCDyucohICTD0LBL3GUHb_t7eWrf7TGgjUiz3j0PgWlSqF_s1doRAduKO63uHjoHEXx5Ck/s1600/Untitled-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIt9XllLOHm8cN3TwDD8ePxAVIoWT5NjKlT3-LJyCGu2xkBHpyIV_7H3abCklpYvojdpD7xvCDyucohICTD0LBL3GUHb_t7eWrf7TGgjUiz3j0PgWlSqF_s1doRAduKO63uHjoHEXx5Ck/s320/Untitled-2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Now, all the armies need command so, apart from the first two commanders in previous releases we have a couple of foot commanders, one Spanish the other Patriot, but I don't think it would matter if they were used for either side as the uniforms were almost identical anyway, especially after a few weeks in the field.<br />

A couple of us in the club are looking at the possibility of gaming the western desert using BKC so I bought a couple of tanks as a test to see how the caunter camouflage came out on Pendraken 10mm tanks. <br />
These are painted as the Talavera Regiment, wearing the alternative green coated uniform as depicted in the Liberators published by Grenadier productions.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHcHbyOLCDQv3dh8wSIvCGWy8jXA02ViBnwqJIg_WHz8PI6P6OSBAjOBIxAimF7VM1_HYK1b-TPRmI9hYIq-29VO9nEyoTqgBrwspY7qwE3M8fg_I1fc6Sk42AXeJ4U9rhF30o2xn9tO8/s1600/TALAVERA+REGIMENT.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="424" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHcHbyOLCDQv3dh8wSIvCGWy8jXA02ViBnwqJIg_WHz8PI6P6OSBAjOBIxAimF7VM1_HYK1b-TPRmI9hYIq-29VO9nEyoTqgBrwspY7qwE3M8fg_I1fc6Sk42AXeJ4U9rhF30o2xn9tO8/s640/TALAVERA+REGIMENT.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This now completes the infantry, or at least as far as I planned initially, to enable me to play Chacabuco. The artillery are done but I haven't got them painted yet so now only cavalry and command to go.<br />
<br />
These will be ready for Colours next weekend.Simonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01350893938778685169noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-564665832206723792.post-13461728342144658372012-07-25T14:27:00.001-07:002012-09-02T09:48:26.795-07:00New project-Zulu warsMy son and I have decided on a joint project using Pendraken 10mm figures but we now realise they don't make the command figures so we'll have to look elsewhere.<br />
<br />
Having decided that we wanted large bases we decided on 60mm wide and 60mm deep for the zulus with 15 figures on each base with two bases forming one impi. This works quite well as an impi equates to one pack of figures.<br />
<br />
The British are formed into companies, with base depths of 40mm, ten figures per base with two bases to a company.<br />
<br />
The larger bases allow for more of a diorama look as well as giving more to hold onto when playing. I have now ordered some more figures now I know we are happy with the format as well as being able to paint the damned things!<br />
<br />
Anyway, our first two test units, a Zulu impi and a company of British infantry.<br />

The first two cover the 7th and 8th battalions of the Army of the Andes. These were units formed of freed slaves and officered by whites.<br />
<br />
Have a look here <a href="http://www.regimientosdeamerica.com/catalogo/">http://www.regimientosdeamerica.com/catalogo/</a><br />
<br />
From what I understand they have just started on the first Royalist units so more to come.Simonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01350893938778685169noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-564665832206723792.post-20328250230593523042012-07-03T02:15:00.002-07:002012-07-03T02:15:23.438-07:00Liberators updateI know it has been a long time coming, but I now have the mold back for the Cazadores and I have started to run them up.<br />
<br />
The Cazadores figures will include four different figures in various firing, lloading and ready poses together with an Officer, drummer, NCO and Ensign.<br />
<br />
So I expect to be updating the web site soon to include these as well as the artillery for both sides with a 4lber cannon. Of course as both sides used a similar system based on the French Gribeauval carriages you can also make use of Napoleonic French cannons to add a bit of variety.<br />
<br />
I will put pictures up just as soon as I can get round to painting some of these new figures, but they will be available by the end of the month.Simonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01350893938778685169noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-564665832206723792.post-9716907112999366302012-04-04T01:44:00.002-07:002012-04-04T01:47:19.793-07:00More Liberators stuffOk, it has been a while but I have been working on the Cazadores de Los Andes and have decided for a change to do them in various firing poses. It would be interesting to hear what you think.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuSYC8X2aqChgmnYD0UZB8cyd1P1UE4pRjfGIOhLxnG_ZSGzrKqMsCa0VzcDsorHL0hEBcwuDR5bRKEjG_HHZIGlHOCxvHzfxejME_aPx68OI3hzgkq644tJ40xvUkpS9LtC6P9fl0PFQ/s1600/IMG_0428.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="182" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuSYC8X2aqChgmnYD0UZB8cyd1P1UE4pRjfGIOhLxnG_ZSGzrKqMsCa0VzcDsorHL0hEBcwuDR5bRKEjG_HHZIGlHOCxvHzfxejME_aPx68OI3hzgkq644tJ40xvUkpS9LtC6P9fl0PFQ/s320/IMG_0428.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Two firing, one of whom is wearing a garrison cap, one biting a carteidge and the other standing ready, wearing a stovepipe shako. Now, I'm not sure whether to leave the bugle badge on the shakos or whether to model a plate on the front.<br />
<br />
Is it me or do their arms look a little long?Simonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01350893938778685169noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-564665832206723792.post-38901943597038680192012-02-15T11:01:00.001-08:002012-04-04T01:44:57.554-07:00Liberators Artillery<div style="text-align: center;">
I know it has been a long time between posts but I have been working on a number of items including some new bits for the South American Wars range of 28mm figures. I am now on the way to getting the artillery done, at least the first batch as part of my plan for this year.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
First up, the artillery for the Army of the Andes. Four crew in a variety of poses</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhsrmGBgEU5h6xS_adRqgJzBMKEkVYV3VIEpziiQONuzmGH3lshUWK5S4mVI4lS-f-yp12hTqa51div4LnpqzWAfbRVRS97bP5pcKKkdEYQgnf9YAdD62Dv_ggOtAHog9AUDfKpQcXg74/s1600/ARGENTINE+ARTILLERY+AND+4LB.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="220" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhsrmGBgEU5h6xS_adRqgJzBMKEkVYV3VIEpziiQONuzmGH3lshUWK5S4mVI4lS-f-yp12hTqa51div4LnpqzWAfbRVRS97bP5pcKKkdEYQgnf9YAdD62Dv_ggOtAHog9AUDfKpQcXg74/s320/ARGENTINE+ARTILLERY+AND+4LB.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next, The Royalists have not been left out with a four man crew, again with a 4lber cannon.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2YiFrKbFVpgSUCaaqAWSqrRMUpwH3o_XeTHcnd43VTbwUazTn1G76nsKcQTiGtlhnC35nk9gAHUT2jlKKrPU4mGLEW9-X9NWLg7pzPpNyqIcMtHUuNhROi7t_ChyE7a0b2s9K_kB2RD0/s1600/ROYALIST+ARTILLERY+AND+4LB.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="208" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2YiFrKbFVpgSUCaaqAWSqrRMUpwH3o_XeTHcnd43VTbwUazTn1G76nsKcQTiGtlhnC35nk9gAHUT2jlKKrPU4mGLEW9-X9NWLg7pzPpNyqIcMtHUuNhROi7t_ChyE7a0b2s9K_kB2RD0/s320/ROYALIST+ARTILLERY+AND+4LB.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Larger guns will be available from the current Napoleonic range of figures and the pieces will once again be available as individual pieces.</div>Simonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01350893938778685169noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-564665832206723792.post-7801705556027182732012-01-05T00:39:00.000-08:002012-04-04T01:44:57.562-07:00Burgos Regiment<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The Royalists wore a white summer uniform, short jacket and covered shako. These figures were part of the first release but I have now got round to painting up a test unit as the Burgos Regiment weasring this distinctive uniform.Simonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01350893938778685169noreply@blogger.com1
